If your computer does not boot from this CD-ROM, create an Instal-
lation diskette (as described on page 28 ), and insert it into your
floppy drive.
You can also choose to start the installation at a later time. To do this,
don’t insert your CD-ROM or installation floppy. Reboot your system to
Windows.
When you are ready to start the installation, turn to Chapter 3.
Using Boot Magic to Boot Windows or Linux
After you complete the OpenLinux installation (from Chapter 3) you can return
to Windows and install the Boot Magic utility. By installing Boot Magic, you can
then choose between launching Windows or OpenLinux each time you start your
computer.
NOTE: The standard Linux boot manager, LILO (Linux
Loader), is installed by the Linux Installation Wizard. If you
are not sharing your system between OpenLinux and Win-
dows, you should boot directly to OpenLinux each time your
system is started.
When the OpenLinux installation is done, your computer should reboot to Win-
dows. At that point, follow these instructions to use Boot Magic to control the
selection of an operating system each time you boot your computer.
CAUTION: Don’t use these instructions until after you have
installed OpenLinux.
To use Boot Magic for access to Windows and OpenLinux:
1.
Restart your system.
The computer boots into Windows.
2.
Insert the “Windows Tools & Commercial Packages” CD-ROM into
the CD-ROM drive.
3.
